INSIDE CREATIVE LIVES

A docu-series that pulls back the curtain on the creative process of women who make their living bringing ideas to life. Funded by STORYHIVE.

INSIDE CREATIVE LIVES

Produced and hosted by photographer and owner of Luminarie Creative Dallas Curow, INSIDE CREATIVE LIVES is a series of intimate profiles of self-employed creative professional women in Alberta.

Each episode will explore various topics specific to its guest, but the unifying thread of the series is the creativity, resilience, ingenuity, and resourcefulness of women.

While we explore each guest’s creative process and body of work, we will also touch upon her contributions to her community and the ways in which her work uplifts fellow creatives and Albertans.

SYNOPSIS

How do you build a rewarding and sustainable creative career as a woman? INSIDE CREATIVE LIVES explores this question by pulling back the curtain on the creative process through interviews of inspiring creative professionals. Think Discovery Channel’s HOW IT’S MADE meets Variety’s ACTORS ON ACTORS meets Vogue’s 73 QUESTIONS, but focusing on some of Alberta’s coolest creative work.

Behind every gorgeous finished product is blood, sweat and tears, but most people only see and celebrate the polished finale. Host Dallas Curow (a multidisciplinary artist herself) asks fellow creative professional women about the messy middle—what really happens behind the scenes in their work.

How do they bring concepts to fruition, handle challenges with grace, and evolve with agility to build creative careers that last?

Exploring themes such as work/life balance, parenting while self-employed, neurodiversity and disability, systemic barriers, addiction, discrimination, wellness, mental health, and art in the age of AI, this podcast will be highly relevant for emerging and seasoned creatives alike.

In addition to showing compassion and respect to her guests and the sometimes heavy subject matter, host Dallas Curow also approaches each conversation with refreshing openness and levity. The tone is that of a fun industry mixer where everyone is feeling unguarded and generous.

The series seeks to cultivate a sense of optimism about the future of creative work and a feeling of belonging within the greater artistic community in Edmonton, Canada, and beyond.

BEHIND THE SCENES

During each shoot, Dallas will be alternating between videography and photography (both camera and iPhone), so there will be a wealth of still images of the behind the scenes process. To mark the series launch, Dallas will host a premiere party in June, 2025. Cast, crew, partners, sponsors, and loved ones will be welcomed to enjoy an evening of connection and celebration.

PRESS

Dallas will prepare a press release and media kit to be shared with guests to assist them in promoting their appearance in the series. Dallas will also pitch herself to media outlets and podcasts to discuss the series and its cultural significance.
